Sime Darby in Parramatta deal

The transaction price for the deal was $112 million.

The acquisition, which includes the BMW, Mini, Volkswagen, Jaguar and Land Rover marques in three dealerships, adds to Sime Darby’s existing Porsche Parramatta operations and now means the group owns the majority of Church Street’s dealerships.

The company said the purchase would give it “greater scope to make a difference to the local community”.

Sime Darby Motors represents all five marques in the other markets in which it operates.

The managing director of Sime Darby Motors Australia and New Zealand Patrick McKenna said the addition of three dealerships “will expand its scale in the retail luxury business at one of Sydney’s most recognised automotive retail locations”.

“Sime Darby Motors is committed to delivering a premium customer experience through elevated personal service and engagement with the local community as it continues to grow its presence in Australia over the coming 12 months,” he said.

“We have tasked the general manager of each dealership to consult with their customers to gain a greater understanding of their needs, as well as identify community and business groups that we can partner with and support.

“We are opening our doors for a series of showroom launches in the new year and invite everyone to come and meet the teams. We will also host regular events in the dealerships and look forward to hearing how we can best serve Parramatta and greater western Sydney.”

Mr McKenna said his priority was driving high performance at each of the new Parramatta dealerships under the direction of Rob Thomson, head of operations – cars for Australia, who will assume the role of acting dealer principal at Parramatta BMW and Mini until an appointment is made.
